ITS CHRISTMAS EVE!!!!

Well the time is finally here! It's Christmas eve at last! I love this time of year! And now that I have my son it's more fun than ever!!! I obviously forgot to post something Sunday but we were a little busy.
Things that happened last week:
The daycare christmas pary was Thursday. Everyone came and we all exchange cookies. I made coconut macaroons that were a huge hit at Thanksgiving so I made em again for the party. Santa came and visited the kids. Huge hit as always. The cookies were delicious and I ate one to many. But it was a fun party. Good job Gia!
We started Christmas shopping on Saturday. Yeah I know.... stupid huh! I'm usually more than finished by the last weekend before Christmas but this year money has been a little tight with all the Dr. bills that have rolled in. So we started Saturday and pretty much finished Sunday - ahhh sinners lol.
Sunday was our family Christmas party. Mike planned it and we had an "ugly sweater" theme. Buzz and I headed to Savers Saturday and found our awesome ugly sweaters. Mine looked like it needed immunizations of some kind and buzz looked like the white guy trying to be a native. We even found Hurley an ugly shirt. It was a bright green shirt with a Mickey's Christmas scene on the front and a black hood that had mouse ears on it. Even with an ugly shirt, he was still cute! We played games and voted for the ugliest sweater. Shane won the sweater contest by sporting an awesome Christmas vest decked out with all sorts of Christmas ribbons and sequins. It was great! So we had an awesome night spending time with the fam.
Monday night we went to Grandma Raulstons annual Christmas party. It was very laid back this year. We all sat around the living room eating pizza and talking with each other. Hurley was a hit, as always! We took carmel popcorn to pass out to the family and I would love to take credit for making it, but Gia saved me (I had no time to do it). So thanks G! Everyone loved it!
Last night we took Hurley to see Santa. He didn't know what to think of him. He wasn't scared, just a little confused. The picture fits Hurley's personality perfectly. Let me tell you...that was an experience. I can't remember the last time I stood in line to see Santa and it was weird to think that Ryan and I will be doing it for the next several years. Didn't think of that one lol.
OH YEAH! Hurley rolled over last night!!! It was so cute! He was squirmin and kickin trying to get off his belly. Dad saw he was getting stuck on his arm so he moved it for him and vwahla! He rolled over. It surprised him for a second and then he grinned and grinned cuz he was finally able to come off his belly. Daddy has been trying to work with him on his rolling over and sitting up skills. Looks like it's payin off. Good job Buzz!
Well with it being Christmas - I am so much more than grateful for my little boy in my life. I'm grateful that he is growning up happy and healthy. I love my Husband and all that he does for us. For working in the cold and for doing whatever he has to do to provide for his family. I'm thankful for my parents and my in-laws and all the love that they give to us! I am also thankful for all of my friends (you know who you are). I definitly don't feel like I deserve all that I have for I have truly been blessed!!! Here's wishing you and yours a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

Buzz is home! Well for a couple weeks!

So I had a really good surprise Wednesday night. Buzz has been working in Vernal for the past 3 weeks and was due to come home Thursday night for the company Christmas party. We were having our nightly phone conversation and about 20 minutes into our review of the day, the doorbell rang. I was kinda mad considering it was 9 at night and I get really nervous being home alone in the dark (I know I know.... pathetic). So I asked Buzz to hold on and opened the door. I saw a dark figure leaning against the door frame and when I looked up, it was Buzz!!! I was SOOO excited to see him! So he's home for the next 2 weeks and then they go to Jackson Hole for a month or so. We'll miss New Years together, but he's a good daddy and husband who provides for his family and will do what he has to do.
Like I said we had the work Christmas Party. It was our 8th year!!! Crazy huh? But like I keep saying, time flys.... especially when your having fun. Anyway we do a white elephant gift exchange every year and this year we came away with a popcorn tin and a $10 gift card to any Cinemark theater. We took the little man and he was, of course, a huge hit. It was the first time most of the crew had met him including Rick and Tonya. We also played a drunk game called chuga chuga choo choo but we were all sober - dang it lol. The place we have the Christmas party at every year has a fire place in the middle of the room and we ended up knocking a rock off of the the chimney playing the game but it was bound to happen we just kind of spread up the process. I have to say most people complain about the Christmas parties they have to go to but I actually have a good time. I'm sure it's proabably because it's with a bunch of crude construction workers instead of conservative office worker type people.
What else..... Hurley had his 4 month check up friday. He is in the 50th percentile for his height-so that's normal but his head circumfrance and weight are only in the 10th percentile. Our Dr. isn't worried so neither are we. Hurley's first rice eating experience was perfect. He loved it and knew exactly what to do from the first bite. It didn't weird him out until about 1/2 way through but he ended up eating the whole bowl. So we moved up from 1 TB of rice to 2 and so far it seems to be helping him sleep a little better at night. Still not back to the 8-5 schedule, but he's hasn't been up every 2 hours every night this week so I'll take it.
We also got some pictures done Friday. They weren't the best but at least they're done. Little stinker was being so stubborn with his smiles. The best smile we got out of him was right after he sneezed. I'm just glad the photographer caught it. Then of course we finish our photo shoot and all he does is smile lol. Oh well. He's cute either way!
Well, until next week...

YAY for December!

I can't believe it's only been a little over a week since Thanksgiving. It feels like it was so long ago already. I have a strange feeling Christmas will be the same way. But I love December and I need to do some serious Christmas shopping! I haven't bought a dang thing yet. I'll probably be calling my brother Mike to see if I can go shopping with him on Christmas Eve. He'll be ducking under the closing gates to the mall stores for ME this year lol.
Well, Buzz finished his 2nd week of work in Vernal. He wasn't able to come home friday like we thought. He came home Saturday night around 6. It was a very long Saturday waiting for him to come home but the rest of the weekend has flown by. He leaves again tomorrow morning at 5 :( Hopefully there's only another week - maybe a week and a half left. By then it'll be Christmas week! YAY!!! I can't wait. I love spending time with our families.
Highlights this week..... I am very sleep deprived. Our son decided he wants to wake up every 2 hours or less to eat. I don't know if he's going through a growth spurt or if he's just restless. One night this week he was moving, wiggling and fussing every half hour like he just couldn't get into a deep sleep. Of course that wakes me up and wow! It has been a week! We're going to try feeding him some baby rice tonight before bed to see if maybe the problem is that milk alone is just not tying him over. It's been a hard adjustment with Hurley sleeping the way he has been. He used to sleep from 8:30 til 4:30 or 5 a.m. and now it's every 2 hours. I don't feel rested at all when I wake up. Yet even through all of this I still don't have any regrets having him in my life.
Hurley is officially in size 3-6 month jeans! I don't want to say it's about time, but he's 4 months this week and just now movin up. He has his Dr.s appt Friday for his 4 month checkup and his shots so we'll see what percentile he's in this time. He was a little below average coming in at the 25th percentile for all 3 catagories at his 2 month check. I'm just glad he's growing and he's healthy. Oh yeah, his ear infection seems to be gone and he finished all of his antibiotics this week. He did so good taking his meds. I'm proud of him.
Well, I'm not sure what else to put in here. I've been one bummed out loser this week without my hubby being home. We haven't done anything really exciting because of it. Hurley is probably the only thing keeping me happy. I can't wait for this weekend though. Buzz will be home sometime Thursday for their work Christmas party and Hurley and I get him for 4 whole days!!! YAY!!!
Until next week (hopefully) peace out :)

Happy Black Friday

Well another year is almost over. I can remember last Thanksgiving and how EXHUASTED I was (I actually slept on his Grandma Hansens couch last year and was kind of anti social - I couldn't figure out what was wrong with me but we all know now lol). I was surprised that our little guy did so good. I don't know why I'm so surprised. He doesn't hardly see Mom or Dad when we visit anyone b/c everyone else takes their turn lovin on him. I don't know of another kid that gets so much LOVIN! Buzz and I have been doing our P90X workouts (including the diet) and I'm down about 12 pounds now and Buzz is somewhere around 10 pounds down. The food is delicious and everything but OH MY GOSH!!! Yesterdays food was AMAZING!!! However, after not eating alot of heavy foods, carbs and sweets, for almost a month, I kindof got nauseous lol. But it was worth it. Daddy gave Hurley some gravy to try (we dipped his binky in gravy and let him suck on it). After a couple of trys I think he actually started to like it.
I also took Hurley to the Dr. for the 1st time Monday (besides his well child checks) because of some congestion that he's had for over 2 weeks. I just wanted to talk to my Dr to make sure I was doing everything I could for him to get him feeling better. I found out that I was doing everything (literally - from vicks to the humidifier to the nose drops) and we just had to wait it out (that made me feel good). Come to find out, it was a good thing that I took him b/c he was getting a little ear infection in his right ear. So he's been on antibiotics since monday. He was cute the first time I gave it to him. He looked at me like "what the heck is this?" But after a second or two, he sucked it right down. What was even funnier was giving it to him when it was cold out of the fridge. He knew the taste but I think the temperature change freaked him out a little lol. He's used to it now though.
Oh.... Buzz started work in Vernal this week - ugh! He left early Monday morning and came back Wednesday night. He goes back Monday will come back Friday and hopefully he only has to do it one more week after that. Hurley and I miss him SO much while he's gone, but he's a very good Husband and Father and does what he has to do to provide for us. I can't believe how luck I am to have such a wonderful man in my life! I hope our son grows up to be just like him!!!
Well today is Black Friday!!! Buzz and I have been doing black friday at Wal-Mart for the past 7 years now. It's about the only tradition that we've started and kept doing together. We even took Hurley! We went to Wal-Mart at 1:30 this morning and scoped out the hot items. We found what we wanted and waited. I bought a sling earlier this week THANK GOODNESS!!! Buzz wore it with Hurley sitting on his hip for about an hour. I was surprised he even stayed awake. It was the middle of the night, but he loves to spend time with his daddy. When he started to get tired Buzz brought him over to me and I laid him down in the sling. He snuggled right in and passed out for the rest of the night. Through the chaos and all lol. It was crazy cuz the item I wanted was a 500 thread count sheet set for $20. They brought the pallet of sheets out about 20minutes before 5 (when the sale started) and here I am standing there with my little boy in his sling, sleeping and cuddled up to his mom and I'm ready to jump in for my sheets lol. When the time came, I bent down to grab my sheets and some dumb lady behind me put her hand on my back and was kinda pushing me down to try and get to some. Thankfully I was able to keep my balance and get back up. One thing I learned today - It's amazing the things you can do one handed when your a mom. I kept one hand on Hurley and kept him safe and was able to grab 2 sheet sets with the other. Buzz and I talked mom into black friday last year and Gia and I talked her into it again this year. Tim and Gia are also on their 2nd year lol. It's the craziest dumbest thing to do, but we totally scored. It's so worth it!!! So all in all Tahna, Tim and Gia got their TV's they wanted, Mom got her sheet sets and some luggage, Buzz got his 8 GB mp3 player and I got my sheets. We also price matched about 15 DVD's (movies and TV seasons) and scored there as well! We LOVE black friday!!!
Well, I've blabbed enough. I hope everyone had a very Happy Thanksgiving. I know we did. I have ALOT to be thankful for every year, but this year I am especially grateful to have a wonderful husband! I don't know of a better man out there. And of course for our baby boy!!! I couldn't imagine life with out him. He brings a smile to my face EVERYDAY!

Happy Thanksgiving

WOW!!!

***This post has been sitting in my edit box for days!!! I wanted to put a cute slide show to it and everything but haven't had the time so I'm just gonna post it***
So alot has happned since I last wrote. My baby has officially laughed! Buzz was makin dinner one night and Hurley started getting fussy on the couch so I picked him up and started playin with him. I would nibble on his neck and he thought that it was the funniest thing. Talk about a natural high! This little guy has brought so many smiles to so many people already - we are TRUELY blessed!!!
Other things that have happened? I've just had the best birthday of my life! My sister's took me to see New Kids on the Block last weekend. It was a HUGE surprise and I was clueless! Saturday buzz worked and called me on his way home and asked me if I wanted to go out. I thought, well yeah I guess. He said "good cuz I have movie passes to Jordon Commons and my mom said she'll watch Hurley. Get ready and pack the diaper bag. So i did. Around 5:00 I asked him if he was ready to go and he says "yeah I just gotta put another shirt on." Just then my doorbell rang and he yells "come in!" I'm thinking "who is he telling to come in?" So I open the door and there were my sisters. They took me to Johns truck and I got in and this "happy birthday" song by NKOTB came on and I thought NO WAY! But it was definitley "yes way lol. Come to find out everyone pitched in to buy me a ticket and Buzz took Hurley to SL to spend some time with his mom so I had no worries.
So HOLY CRAP!!! WE ARE GOING TO NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK!!! At the concert we thought that we had some pretty kick ass seats on row 33 and about half way through the concert we turned around and there was a round rotating stage that NKOTB popped up on 2 rows behind us!!!! AAAAHHHHHH! We went CRAZY!!! I had a really scratchy voice the 2 days before but the concert totally did me in. There was no voice by the time we left the E center and I still had no voice by Monday. But oh so worth it!!! So to my coolest sisters ever: I FREAKIN LOVE YOU-well and Danny Wood too lol!!! And thanks baby for taking care of our son. I was worry free which made it even better!

now or never

(i typed this up yesterday but my internet froze so here it is):
So I wanted to wait until I got pics from Tahna & Gia before I posted this blog but I know that if I don't do it now, I probably won't for another week or two :)

Well, Friday of course was Halloween and our little man was a "chish (fish)." He was a HUGE hit with all the neighbors and trick-or-treaters. We thought he was pretty cute. He fell asleep while I was holding him walking around showing him off. Aunt Abbie noticed and so I handed him to buzz to hold him so that I could get the pic. SO cute..... at least I thought so!

Sunday was a day I have been waiting SOOO long for! My baby boy was finally given his baby blessing by his daddy! As soon as they announced that it was time, I cried and cried and cried. Not from being sad, but because I was so overwhelmed with joy that I couldn't contain myself. We had ALOT of family and friends to share the day with us and I wish that there was a way to show them exactly how much it meant to us! Mom and I spent a good chunk of the day Saturday making his little Navajo traditiaonl outfit. It turned out better than I could have expected! Thanks to Gia for getting all of his "accessories!" It made the whole outfit complete.

Other things that happened this past week..... Hurley is still infactuated with his hands! He's also talking ALOT more! He loves his little toy that hangs down from his carseat - and I mean HE LOVES IT!!! He starts talking to it immediately after we put him in his seat and doesn't stop until he falls asleep. I could listen to him coo for days. He knows that he has a tounge now. He plays with it by sticking it out and trying to curl it. Hurley also had his first tear last night. A coworker of mine had her baby yesterday so we went to see her at the hospital. Hurley cried all the way home. I felt so bad cuz there was nothing I could do. The bink only helped for a few seconds here and there and by the time we got home I was so frazzled! He had never done that before and I didn't know what to do. Anyways, when I got him out of his seat I gave him a big hug and started talking to him. He calmed down in a second and he gave me a huge smile and then one little tear rolled out of his left eye :( He was a little fussy for the rest of the evening but we made it through - lol.

Well, it's late and this is probably getting boring - I ramble too much :)

Hurley is now 11 weeks old! I keep saying it but it's because I still can't believe how fast time goes by. I wanted to post a blog every week but I don't know where my time goes. Well, our little guy has now figured out how to coo and throw a small tantrum (naughty!). Just this weekend he is trying to figure out what is hands are. He watches em as he plays and rolls em right in front of his face :) He also smiles intentionally now. No matter how bad my day is, as soon as he wakes up and sees me, I get a HUGE smile and everything is right in the world again. He made his Great Grandma Raulston very happy Saturday when he smiled and smiled as she talked to him! Hurley has now officially met all of his great grandparents. He smiled and cooed at his Great Grandma Hansen when we went to see them yesterday. He also had the BIGGEST blowout since we've had him while we were there yesterday. It was so bad that we had to come home and take a bath. It was EVERYWHERE! You would've thought that he had no diaper on. As messy as it was, he thought that it was funny. He had the biggest grin the entire time I was cleaning him up - I guess I would've felt better too.
We are all ready for Halloween this week. Hurley is gonna be a fish, momma a gypsy and we don't know about Dad. This past Friday was the daycare halloween party and we shaved dad's head into the old man toilet bowl. It was hillarious and everyone got a kick out of it (I'll be posting pics later). We didn't want to keep the haircut until Halloween so we're not sure what he's going to be (it was suppose to be a fisherman but there's a problem with the fishing waders).
Sunday is Hurley's baby blessing. We had to wait a while because we were waiting for Hurley's Uncle Mike R. to come home from Iraq and Great Grandma and Grandpa to be in town. Then it was waiting to meet with the bishop. Now that everyone is here and we've met with the bishop, it's on! We're having Navajo Taco's afterwards mmmmmm... everyone's favorite! So we're excited for everything Sunday!
So no plans other than that. I can't believe Saturday is November!!! Baby's first Thanksgiving and Christmas! I LOVE THE HOLIDAYS and it's gonna be even more fun with Hurley! Don't know what else to write for this week but hope to write next week!

1st shots today

Well, today Hurley is 8 weeks old and my baby got his 1st series of immunizations. It was so sad when they stuck his chubby little legs. I've never heard him cry the way he did but thankfully we were able to calm him down pretty quick. Thank goodness for binkies. It took me a little longer to settle down lol. The doctor said that he seems to be doing great. He's in the 25th percentile for his height, weight and head circumfrance which means he's a little below average but he's growin. He weighs 10 lbs 13 oz and is 22 in long. We bought him a little bouncy chair this weekend too and he loves it. He's getting more and more observant everyday. He's also cooing a lot more too. Well, I gotta baby in pain that I gotta get to.

BUZZ AND I HAVE BEEN TOGETHER FOR 7 YEARS!!! We just celebrated our 6 year wedding anniversary Saturday. Sad to say, but we did nothing. We didn't have the money to because I've been out on maternity leave, but we'll do something special this weekend after we both get paid :) I do have to admit that it was fun just chillin at home with Hurley this weekend. Anyways, it has been a GREAT 7 years. The man I'm married to is amazing and although we've had our bad times, I wouldn't change a single moment with him. Where would we be if I did?

Well, today my little Hurley man in 7 weeks. I thought time flew by before, but after having a baby it seems to go by twice as fast. As much as I love seeing my little boy grow and learn everyday, it's kinda hard watchin how fast it really happens. But I love being a mamma and I wouldn't trade it for anything.

A little bit on Hurley - last week he started making new sounds. I think he's figuring out that he has a voice. He also started smiling at things. He loves it when we talk to him. One of the best feelings in the world is making my little man smile. It's amazing to see him recognize our faces and our voices. I can't describe the amount of love I have for him. It's amazing to feel so needed by someone so little.

Well, I gotta cut this short. My baby is callin. I LOVE IT!!!

it's been awhile

Well, it's been a little while, but life gets a little busy when you have a newborn (at least until you get into a routine). I gave birth to our little man on August 11, 2008 at 9:59 a.m. He weighed in at 6 LB 9 OZ and was 19 1/2 inches long. Not really sure what to say other than - It was the best day of my life!!! More to come....
